FAQ's

Your map viewer is very nice, but I want to use my deformation data in software package x. What should I do?

We provide several options. You can choose any, depending on your needs and what your software supports:

  1. We provide Web Mapping Services (WMS) to add rendered maps as a background to your project.
You'll find links to the service end points on the map index page.
  2. We provide Web Feature Services (WFS) to query the data and add the features as data to your project.
Off course you have to do the map rendering yourself.
You'll find links to the service end points on the map index page.
  3. We provide downloads of all data we put in the viewers.
You can access the downloads via the downloads tool in your map viewer. As an alternative we also provide a download link for the .csv file from 'Get layer information' menu of the deformation data layers

I want to see my own data or webservices on the viewers. What should I do?

We provide several options, none of which are available in your viewer without you requesting it.

Please contact me if you like to use one of these options:

  1. Upload your data from your local computer using the Data creation toolbox.
  2. Add a WMS or WFS layer from any webservice using the External layer management tools.

What do all the file formats in the download section mean?

What do all the columns in the .csv file mean?

How do I import my downloaded .csv file in ArcGIS?

ArcGIS is not very good at rendering this kind of datasets. So please be patient or use one of our OGC compliant services.

Adding a .csv file with deformation data to your ArcGIS project can be done like this:

  1. Open ArcMap
  2. Choose File -> Add Data -> Add XY Data
  3. In the dialog box which is opened:

    • choose the .csv file
    • choose pnt_lat for Y
    • choose pnt_lon for X
    • choose Coordinate System -> Geographic -> World -> WGS84
  4. Wait while ArcMap is processing your data

  5. Optionally right-click the added layer and choose Export -> Export Data and save in a file format supporting large tables (not shape file or personal geodatabase)

Why do I need to close all Chrome browser windows to complete the log out process?

As a feature Chrome remembers your credentials as long as it can. This seriously deviates from web standards.
Unfortnately this makes it impossible for us to log you out without you having to close all browser windows.
